How should a non-profit celebrate its anniversary? Instead of throwing a large gala banquet, charity:water is marking its fourth anniversary by drilling a new well for some of the 1 billion of the world who do not have access to clean water.

At 4:30 PM ET today, charity:water will begin drilling the first well made possible by the still unfolding September Birthday fundraising campaign - and you can watch it yourself online. The live drill will be beamed from the Moale Village in the Central African Republic - a village that attempted to hand dig a well 16 years ago without success.

What's even more remarkable than seeing the impact of one's donation in real-time is that the live drill is happening just three weeks after charity:water announced the details of its annual campaign to provide clean water for the Bayaka people in the Central African Republic.

Even before the month started, charity:water had raised over $100,000. As of this article, 450 different people have helped to raise over $250,000 through their own individual campaigns. This is enough to provide 12,500 people with clean water.

You can view the live drill on the charity:water Facebook page's UStream tab. For full details, check out their Facebook event page.  Later on, you will be able to view the video on charity:water's main website.

Feeling inspired? You can start your own campaign to help charity:water today by visiting http://www.charitywater.org/september/.
