Wordpress 3.0 is getting ready to launch and it is going to make a big splash among both bloggers and serious web developers and designers.

"WordPress is a state-of-the-art publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability. WordPress is both free and priceless at the same time." --Wordpress.org

What is Wordpress?
Wordpress is a CMS (content management system) initially designed for bloggers. Today, Wordpress is served up as a web platform used in the design of entire business and professional web sites. If you are not sure if Wordpress is right for your business, take a look at who is using Wordpress as their web site design platform:

  • CNN
  • Fisherprice
  • Wall Street Journal
  • Forbes
  • National Geographic
  • Arena Magazine
  • PopWatch Entertainment Weekly
  • DC Universe
  • Nikon
  • CIDA Enterprises
  • Pepsi
  • Nokia
  • Best Buy
  • Ford
  • Coca-Cola
You would be hard pressed to find a web site doing a random search in Google, listed in the top ten results that is not based on the award winning publishing platform.

What is New in Wordpress 3.0?
Multi-User Feature: Wordpress 3.0 has merged their standard platform with their Wordpress MU (multi-user) interface, which allows more than one blog to operate from the same installation. This is great if you are running multiple subdomains and you want to manage them all from the same place.

Previously you would have had to log-in to each account separately, upload plugins individually, and configure each of your administration settings. This can be a time consuming process.Default Theme Has Changed
That may not sound like a big deal to some, but have you seen that old blue default theme? It doesn't inspire professionalism and it leaves the impression that it would be too much work to customize.

The new Wordpress 2010 theme immediately decrees a higher level of professionalism. With the new, easy to use administration configuration, you are now able to change background color, header graphics and menu variations with just a few clicks of a button. Instant customization!New Customizable Menu Option
The new customizable Menu option gives you the versatility to generate your main navigation utilizing a combination of your Posts and Pages. Prior installations allow Page navigation and only through some ingenuity and custom widget action, could you create a menu navigation with a combination of both Page and Post links.

These are only of few of the improved options that you will find in the new Wordpress 3.0. Web Designers, Bloggers and DIY'ers have a lot to look forward to.

The final release of Wordpress 3.0 is due to be released to the public early May.
