2010 NFL Preview: Atlanta Falcons

Welcome to the 2010 NFL Season!
Training Camp is in session, and throughout the rest of this summer, including the preseason, I will be giving you an insight of what to possibly expect from your team. 32 teams, six weeks and two days of previews. All the way to September 7th.
This week will go as follows (Every Monday, a new schedule will be on display, and your team will be covered.):
- NFC South (7/26-7/29)- Atlanta Falcons (7/26), Carolina Panthers (7/27), New Orleans Saints (7/28), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7/29)
- AFC South (7/30)- Houston Texans.
So that said, let's begin the first of our six week trip, starting in Atlanta, as we get a look at the Atlanta Falcons.
The Atlanta Falcons looked like a prime favorite for a Super Bowl contender, but injuries late in the season hampered the team's performance and they ended up being a slight disappointment. However, despite the fact they missed the playoffs, the Falcons accomplished something that has never been done in the history of the franchise: achieved back-to-back winning seasons. They will now look to achieve a third straight winning season, along with getting back to the playoffs and contending for a Super Bowl.
Recap:
- 2009 record: 9-7 (2nd, NFC South. Missed playoffs)
- Key Additions: CB Dunta Robinson (Houston Texans)
- Key Departures: CB Tye Hill (St. Louis Rams)
Overview
Offense: Nothing has changed too much on the offensive side of the ball, except for the fact that the injuries to QB Matt Ryan (toe), and RB Michael Turner have healed. These were widely viewed as two of the factors in the stumbling late in the season, as the turf toe to Ryan sidelined him for two games, and the late season high ankle sprain to Turner sidelined him for five games in the regular season.
