April Fool's Day: Hockey Style
Happy April Fool's Day to everyone! As most hockey players know, we (hockey players) have a great sense of humor. So, in the spirit of April Fool's Day, I went looking for a prank video on YouTube. The funniest video I discovered was "Jamie Kennedy's Experiment".
Jamie Kennedy's Experiment is similar to the show "Punk'd". In the episode I selected he sets up the Philadelphia Flyer's captain, Keith Primeau. In on the act were former player/broadcaster, Keith Jones, and forward, John Leclair. The plan was to get Jamie's "kid" on the ice with his hero, Keith Primeau.
Primeau gets a surprise when the "father" Jamie accompanies his kid on the ice rocking a mullet wig and a John Leclair jersey. Jamie tries to out-show his child in comic fashion. He constantly trips, hacks, and knocks his kid over. Primeau was observing all this but not taking any action.
As the show goes on Jamie tries to get Primeau to take runs at him by saying, "Don't tell me how to raise my kid!" and, "Son, don't try to embarrass me in front of these professional athletes. I know they're not the Bruins, but still!" (you have to be a hockey fan to get this humor).
Eventually, Jamie gets Primeau mad enough to take some runs at him. Jamie then proceeds to the bench and gets the fake blood packets in his mouth. The next time Primeau took a run at him Jamie fell to the ice and acted like he was bleeding from his mouth. All Primeau had to say was, "Haha, Good!" while being completely serious.
The show ended like you would think with Jamie telling Primeau he'd been duped. Everyone had a good laugh and moved on. This is much more comical to watch then to tell.
