Blog Focus: LeGarrette Blount is Reinstated by Oregon
Oregon running back LeGarrette Blount had been suspended since the first game of the season for wiping the above smirk off the face of Boise State's Byron Hout.
Now, after Oregon's first loss without him, Blount has been reinstated and will play Saturday after he was originally suspended for the season.
Blount has reportedly completed all of the conditions placed on him by the university and now gets a chance to finish out his senior year and perhaps rebuild his draft stock. Here's what the blogosphere had to say about it:
Dr. Saturday: "In non-football terms, the reception outside of Eugene is certain to be mixed, to say the least. But the fact that Blount has spent the last two months doing and saying (or rather, not saying) all the right things to remain a part of the system, as opposed to following the cynics' expectations into oblivion, is some assurance that there won't be any major problems from him again as long as he still has so much to lose."
Addicted to Quack: "AD Mike Bellotti requested reinstatement Sunday evening and Larry Scott of the Pac-10 reviewed it this morning and gave Oregon the go ahead. He will be available to play this Saturday against ASU. Interesting side note: Allen speculated that Oregon waited to bring him back in front of the home crowd. Blount said he is happy for the second chance."
Buster Sports: "I am sure this has absolutely nothing to do with the loss to Stanford and protecting its increasingly threatened possibility at a conference title. No, this has everything to do with the rehabilitation of a young man who should not be overly punished for a single mistake. And boosters only give players slaps on the back and hearty handshakes."
Pac-10 Blog: "(Oregon coach Chip) Kelly said that Blount was running "fourth or fifth" with the running backs during the Monday morning practice. That means Blount is behind James, Kenyon Barner, Andre Crenshaw and Remene Alston on the depth chart at present."
