Boston Celtics Star Paul Pierce Might Have Broken Foot
UPDATE: Or he might not have a broken foot.
After just getting back star forward Kevin Garnett and waiting on sixth man Marquis Daniels to return, what was originally considered a minor injury to star Paul Pierce might be more serious.
Pierce had his injured foot X-rayed Tuesday and a source told NBA.com that the foot is possibly broken.
If it is broken, Pierce could miss significant action. Pierce is leading the Celtics in scoring and has helped keep the team afloat while missing Garnett for several weeks and seeing decreased production from Ray Allen, who's scoring average has dipped three points per game from last season. Allen continues to be mentioned in trade rumors (including to Sacramento for Kevin Martin and Andres Nocioni) and a prolonged injury to Pierce may force the Celtics to make a move in order to bring in some more offensive firepower.
