City Over Barca and Real; Must Have Been a Choice of the Heart for David Silva
Was Manchester City pushing the hardest for the former Valencia playmaker and Spain international David Silva all they needed to land the Spanish midfielder? It’s been more than three months now since Silva had signed on the dotted line to play for Manchester City. Notably, City were a different story back then. They have marched ahead in the Premier League ever since though, and are sitting pretty at the top now with the 25-year-old Silva enjoying sensational form all through while playing a key role in the process. As well, the star midfielder is admittedly surprised with the speed of his adaptation to English football and contrasting cultures of the respective leagues.
However, Silva spurning the opportunity early on to join both the Catalan club Barcelona and Real Madrid, sounds like a choice executable only if his heart had a big role to play in it; the La Liga’s big two are dream destinations for every top player in the world. All the same; the Manchester City attacking midfield player has been reaping the rewards of agreeing to his heart’s cursor. Of course, Silva has been effectively backing himself with his huge reserve of talent and honest commitment to his employer’s cause.
It’s hard to conclusively comprehend though, how the World Cup winner’s personal story would have turned out to be; had he chosen to join the ranks of either Barcelona or Real Madrid instead. Apparently, it’s not just about signing for a huge club; the accompanying challenges of emerging as a key player at a big club have to be contended with as well.
Most importantly, Silva finds himself a happy man at the Etihad Stadium; so are his family with things looking up on the professional front. At the end of the season, City could still be in the title fight and maybe, they'll win it. Besides, City’s ambitious streak that entails being one of the biggest sides in Europe other than their immediate title aspirations must augur well with the purposeful star player.
And Silva does have a good word for his compatriot David de Gea at Old Trafford on whom he had an overpowering influence in City's massive 6-1 victory over Manchester United. Although it’s each man for himself on the pitch, the City midfielder believes that de Gea would do very well for himself with the Reds as the season wears on.
