Couples let everyone know this was going to be his day when he knocked in a 94-foot eagle putt on the first hole. The putt moved him to 5-under for the tournament and he added three birdies in his bogey free second round to get to -8. He leads J.B. Holmes, John Senden and Spencer Levin (who still has three holes to play in his second round) who are tied for second place at -6.
Fred Couples on Social Media
During his post round interview Couples was asked about his use of Social Media. He laughed and said with a smile he didn't know what Facebook and Twitter were. After asking about Twitter and receiving an explanation, Couples joked his first Tweet would be about leading J.B Holmes.
"I do but I don't. For instance, if I did Twitter, would I tell people? That I'm heading home and then going to eat at California Pizza Kitchen? Is that what you do, or do you actually tweet information?"
Couples admist he does text but despite seeing the movie "Social Network," he doesn't really know much about it.
Couples did make mention of having an early tee time as an advantage yesterday. Rain and wind played a role in the afternoon rounds before darkness forced them to finish on Saturday. The forecast for Saturday is more of the same. A high of 58 degrees, cloudy, windy, and 70% chance of rain at Riviera Country Club.
