Golden Rain of Evgenia Kanaeva
Russian rhythmic gymnast Evgenia Kanaeva won the fifth gold medal at the 2011 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in the French Montpellier.
Yesterday night she was the best in the exercises with a ribbon. 21-year-old scored 29.400 points and left behind her main rival Daria Kondakova, which scored 29.250 points and took the silver medal. Bulgarian representantative Silvia Miteva won the bronze with 28.300 points.
Let's remind that earlier at these championships Kanaeva became the owner of gold medals in the exercises with a hoop, ball and clubs. Another high award gymnast won in the teams’ tournament.
Evgenia Kanaeva is the 2008 Olympic champion. She also has 11 world champion's titles. At the European championships Kanaeva has earned 12 gold medals, and also she brought to the Russian team four gold and one silver medal at the Universiade in China which was held in the summer of 2011.
The success of Evgenia Kanaeva in rhythmic gymnastics not only has brought to her a recognition of fans worldwide, but also has continued great sporting traditions of Omsk City sporting school. Nevertheless, Kanaeva doesn't love comparisons. Often in the interviews, on a question on plans for the future she says that lives for today and victories only motivate her on achievement even more good results.
The 2011 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships is held in Montpellier, France, from September 19–25, 2011 at the Arena Montpellier. The top 24 teams from the 2010 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships will be allowed to send a group of gymnasts. This event is the first qualifying round for the 2012 Olympics which will be held in London.
Today will be awarded medals in the individual all-around, where Evgenia have all chances to win another gold medal and become the absolute world champion.
