Italian Legion Stopped German Machine
Italian soccer team earned a victory over Germany and now will try to win in the Final of Euro 2012, said the best player of the match, the Italian midfielder Andrea Pirlo.
Italians defeated the Germans on Thursday in Warsaw (2:1) in semi-final game of the European football championships. Until yesterday Germany was considered as the main favorite of this championship. Two great goals for Italy scored a forward Mario Balotelli, in 20th and 36th minutes. German midfielder Mesut Özil at the additional time of the second half from the penalty spot scored the only goal of Germans. On Sunday’s Final Italy will face Spain.
"We deserved the victory over Germany. Today we have achieved a fantastic victory in the match with a great team and now we have to win the Final." said Pirlo.
"We beat a great team, a team of top-class. We are very happy; it was a fantastic evening for us. We were more successful in the first half and at the second one we lost some of our game but, nevertheless, kept it under the control." said midfielder Riccardo Montolivo after the match.
In turn, the defender of Italian team Federico Balzaretti noted that Germany was indeed a strong contender for his team. "It was a memorable match for me and, I am sure, for our whole team. German squad is very strong, they fought well. It was pleasant to win." he commented.
For the victory at Euro 2012 Italy will compete with Spain, the current World and European champions. The match will take place July 1 in Kiev, Ukraine.
