Kansas City Chiefs Wide Receiver Dwayne Bowe Suspended
The NFL has suspended Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe for using a banned diuretic to lose weight.
Bowe has been the Chiefs' best offensive player the last three seasons. He caught 70 passes as a rookie, 86 last season and led the team this year at the time of his suspension with 33 receptions and four touchdowns.
Bowe was a first round pick out of LSU in 2007. With Kansas City's trade of All-Pro tight end Tony Gonzalez in the offseason, Bowe was the primary target for new quarterback Matt Cassel.
Bowe released a statement apologizing to fans and also wanted to tell people the suspension was not for using steroids:
"First of all, to all my fans, I'm extremely sorry. I was only trying to do right for my team by losing weight to be much quicker. I would never use steroids of any kind. My reputation is everything. My fans know I am not that type of guy to get over."
