8) Takeya Mizugaki
Mizugaki lost to Brian Bowles at UFC 132.
9) Brad Pickett (“One Punch”)
Still sidelined with an injury, Pickett awaits his chance to debut in the UFC.
10) Masakatsu Ueda
The former Shooto champion rebounded from an upset loss to start his climb back to the title. He most recently used his patented Brabo choke to pick up another win, defeating Ralph Acosta.
Flyweight (125 pound limit)
1) Ian McCall (“Uncle Creepy”)
McCall dethroned Jussier da Silva to take over the #1 spot in the division. He continued to win by beating undefeated Dustin Ortiz. “Uncle Creepy” is scheduled to fight Darrell Montague in August for the TPF championship.
2) Jussier da Silva (“Formiga”)
Formiga was the best flyweight in the world for a long time, but in his 2nd match on US soil he was upset by Ian McCall. His next match will be against Mamoru Yamaguchi in August.
3) Yasuhiro Urushitani
The Shooto flyweight champion won the title by defeating Ryuichi Miki. He then won a non title fight against Takuya Mori and continues to look like a top 123 pounder.
4) Mamoru Yamaguchi (“Afro”)
Yamaguchi cemented his status as a top fighter in Shooto at the end of last year. He added to that with a win over Kevin Dunsmoor this month.
5) Yuki Shojo
Shojo holds his place in the division with wins over Junya Kudo, Jesse Taitano, and Noboru Tahara.
6) Alexis Villa
Rumours continue to circulate about Villa going to Shooto to face the top flyweights in the world.
7) Kiyotaka Shimizu
Shimizu’s 4th match with Mitsuhisa Sunabe ended with a win for Shimizu, giving him the 2-1-1 advantage in this feud.
8) Fumihiro Kitahara
Kitahara recently lost against Mamoru Yamaguchi, stopping his ascent to the top of the division. Previously, he was on a 5 fight win streak in Shooto.
9) Darrell Montague (“The Mongoose”)
Montague makes his debut in the top 10 after beating Ulysses “Useless” Gomez to win the Tachi Palace Fights title. Next up is a chance to vault into the #1 spot, as he faces Ian McCall this summer.
10) Ulysses Gomez (“Useless”)
One of the most entertaining fighters in the game, Useless finds himself needing to rebound from a loss to Darrell Montague.
