Saints Finish Strong In Super Bowl With Right Mindset
In sports, as in life, you can't always tell who is the most prepared by initial results.
The New Orleans Saints came into Super Bowl XLIV as decided underdogs just because of their experience factor. What measuring experience won't tell you is that the mindset of the Saints, similar to their namesake town, was based on possibility and not past results.
Major media coverage continued to call the courageous play calls by the Saints coaching staff, "gambles." When in reality, those plays were evidence of the coaching staff recognizing opportunities to accomplish what they had came to do: win a Super Bowl.
From the unsuccessful attempt on 4th and goal to the interception that lead to the game sealing touchdown, the Saints as an organization seemed to be keenly in tune to seeing their chances to win.
Think about it. It would have been just as easy to look at the record, pedigree, and experience of the Colts and accept defeat.
"Nice job boys. You did the city and yourselves proud by getting beat by such a fine football team."
Instead, the Saints collectively said, "Screw that!" and focused themselves on finding ways to win, instead of accepting reasons to lose.
Take note. The Saints, the city of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana have shown that it is less about what is handed you, and more about what you do with it, that matters.
Celebrate America! Celebrate World! Yes, even you guys in Indiana. You have another example that shows you can get from life what you desire.
It will take purpose, belief, vision, and few other elements the media won't focus on, but you can have it.
