The Heritage Preview and Fantasy Picks
It must be Spring as the PGA TOUR heads to Hilton Head, South Carolina, for The Heritage. Jim Furyk won here last year on his was to winning the FedEx Cup and being named the 2010 PGA TOUR Player of the Year.
Defending champion Jim Furyk has not had the year he was hoping for. After winning three times in 2010, Furyk has only cracked the top 10 twice and is still in search of his first victory in 2011. If it's going to come this weekend, Furyk will have to contend with a hungry field looking to keep momentum going or start a role of their own.
The Heritage field features a group of well rested players with seven players who have already won in 2011 including Mark Wilson who has won twice. Luke Donald (3), Graeme McDowell (5), and Matt Kuchar (10) are all ranked in the top 10 in the Official World Golf Rankings. Donald will be looking to add a second victory to his 2011 resume.
Jim Furyk is not the only returning champion. The field this week features seven previous winners including two time winners Boo Weekley (2007 & 2008) and Stewart Cink (2000 & 2004). The most impressive may be Davis Love III who has won here 5 times: 1987, 1991, 1992, 1998 and 2003.
The Heritage Groups to Watch
3. Jim Furyk, Jason Day & Matt Kuchar: Jim Furyk has struggled in 2011 but can he turn it around and defend his 2010 championship here? Jason Day turned some heads two weeks ago when he birdied the 17th and 18th at Augusta National to finish in a tie for second at The Masters. He won last year on TOUR and seems to be playing of the best golf of his career. Matt Kuchar is as steady as they get. One only three players in the field this week ranked in the top 10, Kuchar will be looking for his first win of the 2011 season.Continued on the next page
