Tiger Woods

Shamed and humiliated golf champ Tiger Woods returns to the game which made him a household name. Thursday in Augusta, Tiger will be competing for his fifth Masters win, and certainly Tiger's choice to return to golf through this venue is no surprise. The Masters have been described as the most "tightly controlled environment" where crude outbursts about Tiger's exploits would be very unexpected.

You never know though, with as many women as Tiger is alleged to have "entertained," one might slip through the radar. Tiger is hoping to head off the media and the public's lurid interest in his sex life by holding a brief press conference to answer questions. I'd expect that will be tightly controlled as well.

In the meantime, Tiger's personal life is still tenuous at best. His wife Elin will not be attending the Masters and, according to some sources, is miffed he has returned to golf so soon after the scandal broke. It was last Thanksgiving the world became aware of Tiger's "transgressions" - one can only imagine how Elin might feel about Tiger putting his life (including his children and wife) out there for more public consumption.

Also on everyone's mind is whether a win at this level will put some of the nagging questions about Tiger to rest.  If he wins, he's the undisputed champ - however, will we see some real change in Tiger and some of the negative perceptions which have been assigned to him?  Tiger went into to golf with an entitled attitude, became a major endorsement entity and a guy who protected his privacy (though not well-enough) like a rabid, well, Tiger.

People are expecting a new and improved Tiger, but he better make that change from the inside out, or he'll get an even nastier taste of what he's already been chomping on for the last six months. Tiger, we're watching...
