Tim Tebow Anti-Abortion Ad That No One Has Seen Is Already Controversial
For followers of college football, every miraculous element of Tim Tebow's life that unfolds before our eyes is never a shock, whether he's doing the Heisman pose with babies while doing missionary work or resisting the urge to end his virginity in the presence of temptation.
So when it was revealed that the deeply religious Tebow had a personal story dealing with abortion — namely, that his mother was given medical advice to consider aborting him to preserve her own health but decided not to, not only surviving but spawning the messiah of all college QBs — it was no big shock in a long line of miraculous Tebow stories.
But the rest of the non-college football viewing world may not be as familiar with the exploits of Mr. Tebow, and now they are catching up, to the point that something called a Joy Behar is asking, 'what if he was a pedophile?' on The View.
Craziness. Tebow's faith has always been front and center, since he became a college football star four years ago. Is it really a shock that he's Pro-Life? And based on his willingness to openly discuss his faith, is it a shock that he'd be willing to campaign for what he believes in? Of course it shouldn't be.
Tebow's ad will be just like Jeff Suppan's hatred of stem cells or any other athlete who awkwardly speaks on anything that doesn't involve crashing into other dudes or throwing balls around a field — interesting because it's out of the ordinary, given too much attention by the media and, ultimately, meaningless in the grand scheme of things. There's no point in debating this ad or preemptively trying to get it taken off the air. Those who disagree with Tebow's views are giving him exactly what he wants — publicity for his position.
