US Open 2012: Andy Murray defeats Novak Djokovic to win his first Grand slam.

British Tennis star Andy Murray finally succeeded in winning his first ever Grand Slam while appearing in his fifth Grand Slam final.
In a mega marathon match that lasted for four hours and 54 minutes, Murray defeated No.2 seeded Novak Djokovic by 7–6(12–10), 7–5, 2–6, 3–6, 6–2.
Speaking after the match Murray said, "Novak is very strong. He fights till the end in every single match, I still don't believe how I managed to come through in the end."
Earlier Murray won the first two sets 7-6, 7-5 and it looked like finally he will win his maiden Grand Slam in a style. But the Serbian warrior didn't accepted to give up and won the next two sets by 2-6, 3-6 and once again it seemed like Djokovic will be successful for second time in beating Murray in the Grand Slam final. But Murray proved everyone wrong and easily won the next set 6-2 creating a history at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Murray's win also ended a 76-year Male Singles Grand Slam drought for Great Britain. The last time when British player won a Grand-slam was way back in 1936 when Fred Perry defeated Don Budge of United States to win the U.S. National Championships(Now known as the US Open).
Novak praised Murray my saying, "It's Andy's first grand slam and he absolutely deserves to be the Champion." Further he continued, "I gave my all and it was a tremendous grand slam, I am really proud to be a part of it."
Along with the Grand-slam trophy Murray also took home $1.9 million Prize money, thus collecting a total of $23,442,501 in ATP World tours. He stands 8th in the earnings list with Roger Federer topping the list by collecting $73,453,677 prize money!
