Biggest Surprise: Basically given up for dead, the White Sox actually announced in May that everyone with a big contract was up on the trading block. Fast forward to the All-Star break and the Southsiders are leading the Central and are 25-5 over their last 30 games. Apologies to: Rangers. Biggest Disappointment:The Seattle Mariners have the ninth-highest payroll in the game, yet they toil in last place in the A.L. West 18 games under .500 and 15 games out of first. They just traded away one of their biggest guns in Cliff Lee so don't expect their record to improve much the rest of the way. Apologies to: Angels.
