On Monday, Detroit Tiger hurler Justin Verlander was voted the National League Most Valuable Player.

It was the awards sweep by Verlander after winning the AL Cy Young trophy last week.

Verlander becomes the first pitcher to win the MVP since Oakland's Dennis Eckersley in 1992. No pitcher has doubled the awards since Roger Clemens did it in 1986.
