It's the dream of every kid that ever swung a bat at a ball, fielded the last out for the win, or stood in the coaches spot- to lead your team to win the World Series.

Tony La Russa has done it three times, twice with the Cardinals. He's been managing in the bigs for 33 years, the White Sox, the A's, and finally the Cardinals.

After taking the Rangers in game 7, La Russa enjoyed the spotlight with his team. And now, three days later he has announced his retirement. Talk about going out on a high note.

"Other than some of personal attachments, I feel good," La Russa said. "I feel good that this is the right decision."

The game is better for the likes of Tony La Russa.

When asked if he'll ever manage again, La Russa firmly responded, "No."
