World Series: Can Jay-Z Save the Yankees?
Game One of the 2009 World Series is in the books and the Phillies are looking good thanks to a dominating performance from left-hander Cliff Lee.
Tonight Game 2 in the Bronx will feature a little pre-game star power as Jay-Z and Alicia Keys perform Empire State of Mind from Jay-Z's latest album. In the song, Jay-Z claims "I made the the Yankee hat more famous than a Yankee can." That may be true, but can Jay-Z get a hit off Pedro Martinez?
For the Yankees to win Game 2 they're going to need to get better production from their 3-4-5 hitters who went a combined 1 for 12 with seven strikeouts. They'll also need solid middle relief. The Yankees bullpen gave up four earned runs in the final two innings last night.
The Yanks will turn to A.J. Burnett tonight with a lot on the line. A two-nothing hole may be too much, even for Jay-Z, to climb out of.
Jay-Z and Keys will perform at 7:30, first pitch is scheduled for 7:57pm eastern, FOX carries the game.
