Welcome to the second week of NFL Previews on Technorati! We are going to keep the ball rolling, and continuing with the AFC South, and then migrate to the NFC North. Here is the schedule for this week:

AFC South: (8/2-8/4)- Indianapolis Colts (8/2), Jacksonville Jaguars (8/3), Tennessee Titans (8/4)
NFC North: (8/5, 8/6)- Chicago Bears (8/5), Detroit Lions (8/6)

With that said, let's go to Indianapolis and take a look at the Colts.

The Indianapolis Colts were unstoppable... at least until the Super Bowl. But even after losing the Super Bowl, they are back as the favorites (according to Vegas) to win it all. One thing is for certain, as long as #18 is under center, Indianapolis is always a favorite.

How will the Colts respond after falling short in the Super Bowl? Will Jim Caldwell get his guys back to the big game, or will they fall short once again. We put the Indianapolis Colts under the scope.

Recap:

2009 Record (14-2, 1st AFC South, AFC Champions)
Key Additions: none
Key Departures: WR Hank Baskett (Eagles), DT Raheem Brock (free agency), K Matt Stover (free agency)

Overview:

Offense: As long as Peyton Manning is in the game, the Colts are always in the game. The four-time NFL MVP is back under center, and is always a threat for 4000 passing yards and many touchdowns. He makes his teammates better, and turns virtually unknown receivers into stars. (See Pierre Garcon, Anthony Gonzalez, and Austin Collie). The Colts don't have much experience behind him, as longtime backup Jim Sorgi left to backup Peyton's brother Eli in New York with the Giants. Curtis Painter will be listed as the team's backup QB (he did play against the Jets when the Colts lost their first game of the season in 2009.) Tom Brandstater and Tim Hiller are the other two backups and one will be headed to the practice squad.

The backfield of the Colts are intact with Joseph Addai getting the bulk of the snaps, followed by Donald Brown and Mike Hart. All three are very reliable runners and can pick up the slack for when the other is down. Addai for the first time in a few years is relatively healthy. They did pick up Devin Moore, but expect him to be on the practice squad as well.
