2011 Fantasy Football Rankings: Top 15 Quarterbacks
Draft Strategy for the 2011 Fantasy Football Quarterback Position
The buzz at the quarterback position has revolved around Mike Vick. Fantasy football nation has fallen in love with Vick's ability to dominate games and occasionally put up incredible, game changing fantasy numbers.
Don't fall into that trap. While fantasy football is a game where it is advantageous to pick as many elite options at the position as possible - it is unwise to turn a blind eye to the other positions that you must draft for.
The quarterback position is deep in 2011. As you can see from our projections at Gridiron-Guru - Vick is not even rated at the top of his position. In order for him to post the amount of points that everyone lusts after, he must put himself in harms way. That means increased likelihood of an injury, and missed games.
Focus on taking elite running backs early in the draft. If you get to pick 5, 6, 7 in the first round and the elite options that you like are gone from the RB depth chart — select Andre Johnson. He is the only Tier 1 WR in our 2011 fantasy football rankings. He will give your team a strong edge each and every Sunday.
Don't over extend yourself for the big, brand names at QB this season. If Aaron Rodgers or Phillip Rivers are available in the 2nd round — then grab them. If not, continue to stockpile Tier 1, 2 and 3 talent from the RB fantasy football rankings, and grab Tier 1 and 2 talent from the WR position.
Starting in round five, look to see which of the options below are available. If you can select Matthew Stafford, Josh Freeman, or better - lock 'em up. Follow up with another Tier 3 option in round 7 or 8.
