Auburn Climbs To #1 Spot in BCS

The new BCS rankings were released on Sunday, and the Auburn Tigers leapfrog the Boise State Broncos and the Oregon Ducks to take the top spot. The Tigers claimed the spot after their 24-17 victory at home over LSU Saturday afternoon, earned a BCS average of .9371 Oregon, ranked #2 in the BCS a week ago, remains in the same position, with an average of .9079 despite blowing out UCLA 60-13 on this past Thursday.
Boise State, despite being #2 in both major polls, remains at #3, but due to their bye week, lose ground in their standings, with an average of .8846, down from their average of .8898. The off week from Boise helped TCU move closer to the #3 spot, with an average of .8833. Michigan State rounds out the top five with an average of .8387.
Missouri, coming off their win this weekend over last week's #1 team, Oklahoma, is now sixth with an average of .8006 while the Sooners tumbled down to ninth. Between those two schools are Alabama (7th) and Utah (8th). Wisconsin rounds out the top 10.
Although it is early, what matters to most fans and the teams in the BCS Championship hunt is the final BCS Poll, which will be released on December 5th. The BCS Championship Game will be played on January 10, 2011 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
