Brett Favre Part II - The Diva Saga
Breaking news: diva quarterback Brett Favre was talked into returning for yet another year, or so he would have us believe.
Yes three of his teammates from the Minnesota Vikings showed up at his house ate dinner with him, slept over and brain-washed the diva quarterback to come back.
We all know that Favre eats, sleeps and breathe media attention. First he retired from the Green Bay Packers, then returned to the New York Jets, only to retire then un-retired – signing to the Vikings last season after a drawn out media spectacle. Fans of the Vikings and the NFL on a whole were left to wonder all of last season, if the A-List Diva – Favre would return this season.
Unlike a sequel to most movies, Brett Indecision Part II surely has lived up to the expectation – a stellar production of Media Hype and Alpha-Maleism. It’s no joke that this old guy has figured out how to get media coverage and keep the buzz on his “hype."
Fine, we would all agree that he has the stats that legends are made of, chances are he will go to the Hall of Fame someday - sooner or later, and after all his antics, I think it will be later. But really how do you manage to maintain this kind of “buzz” and return to the locker room and/or huddle with a straight face to convince his teammates that he is in it for the team and not fame, publicity and yes the almighty green.
What kind of a locker room, will there be in Minnesota this season, when players are saying that they did not even know about their fellow teammates jetting off to appeal to Favre’s conscience.
Talk about trust shall we? After all, Favre said he would think about it, he said he needed more time, more rehab - maybe even more money. He needed to talk with his family. He needed to soul-search. What he really needed, it seems, was to jerk everyone around.
