Euro 2012: England and France Complete the Quarterfinal List

Wednesday June 20, 2012;
In the final group stage matches England stormed to the Quarterfinal with Wayne Rooney's header. Rooney was making his return after serving a 2 match ban. The 1-0 win over Ukraine has sent both the co-hosts of Euro-2012 out of Tournament.
While in another match France manged to qualify for the next round despite of losing 0-2 to Sweden. With this win French have finally ended the six year long hiatus of failing to qualify for the knockout stages of a major tournament. The last time they qualified were back in 2006 Fifa World cup.
English fans were hoping some magic from Rooney's return and he did meet up their expectations by scoring a goal in the 48th of the match by a header following Stephen Gerrard cross. This was the first International tournament goal for Wayne Rooney after 8 long years. The only goal was enough for England to proceed to next round. England will now be facing Italy in the Knockout stage match.
In another match Sweden ended their Euro cup journey by 2-0 win over France. The reason for France qualifying even after losing is because Ukraine lost their match against England. Captain Zlatan Ibrahimović open up the goal account for Sweden by a goal in 54th Minute while Sebastian Larsson's late strike ended up the match 2-0.
With this two matches the Group Stage matches have some to end and Know the Knockout phase of the Tournament begins from tomorrow.

22 June (Gdańsk): Germany Vs Greece
23 June (Donetsk): France Vs Spain
