Euro 2012: Germany Defeats Netherlands; Portugal Wins Over Denmark
Substitute player Silvestre Varela's goal in the 87th minute of the match may have kept Portugal's hopes of Euro Cup 2012 quarter-finals alive. Portugal beat Denmark by 3-2, while in another exciting match, Germany beat Netherlands 2-1.
After being beaten my Germany in their first match, Portugal played a spectacular game and led 2-0 in first half of the game. Pepe scored the first goal for Portugal in the 24th minute while Hélder Postiga scored the second goal in 36th minute of the match. But a few minutes before half time, Bendtner managed to score for Denmark in the 41th minute.
In the second half Portugal missed two opportunities to score a goal. And with 10 minuted left in the match, Bendtner scored another goal and leveled the score to 2-2. But at last, Varela's goal in the last minutes of match helped Portugal win their first 3 points in the group table. Portugal will now face Netherlands in their last group stage matches on Sunday.
In another exciting match, Germany beat Netherlands by 2-1. The win moved Germany closer to the Quarter-Finals. Mario Gomez's two goals in first half helped Germany defeat the Dutch. Gomez's scored goals 24th and 38th minute of the match.
Van Persie scored for Netherlands in 73th minute of the match, but the goal was not enough for the Dutch to open their points table in Euro-2012.
After the two matches the standings in Group B are as follows:
Germany top the table by 6 Points in two matches, Portugal and Denmark have 3 points each and stand equal while Netherlands are still in search of their first points in the table.
