LSU - BCS Bound?

LSU is two wins away from an undefeated season. They go on the road to face a struggling Ole Miss (2-8, 0-6 SEC) on Saturday. Look for the LSU offense to run roughshod over the porous Mississippi defense. Then on the day after Thanksgiving the Tigers host a motivated Arkansas Razorbacks. The Hogs are currently #6 on the BCS charts and would love nothing more than to play a little smashmouth with their rival LSU.

The Tigers will likely play for the SEC Championship on Dec 3rd against Georgia or USC.

The Tigers control their destiny. Two wins puts them in the big game. It's even likely they could drop one and still make it to New Orleans in January. Unless the guys just completely fall apart and give it away now I don't see them losing two. They are just that good. They earned their spot with that big win over Alabama.

So if we assume LSU has already earned a spot in the BCS, who will they play?

I'd like to see an LSU/Alabama rematch but an undefeated Oklahoma State holds the cards. The Cowboys should defeat Iowa State this weekend and then it gets a little tougher. For Ok State, the road to New Orleans goes through the Oklahoma Sooners on December 3rd. A win over the Sooners sets up an LSU/OK State BCS game. If the Sooners win that game then I think Alabama may get the bid assuming they win their last two games. A 24th ranked Auburn is not going to be a walk in the park for the Crimson Tide..

For Alabama to get to New Orleans, LSU or Ok State has to lose.
