NFL Picks - Playoffs - Week 1
Welcome to the weekly NFL Picks post by DrD, where each week we discuss who will win and why. The opinions expressed are from knowledgeable followers of the sport, who research all facets of the match-ups. Their names are changed to protect their privacy and to add a touch of humor to the predictions.
Vinnie the Mooch and the boys are getting together this weekend to watch the playoffs over a plate of spaghetti and meatballs and other homemade masterpieces. They’ve been in the kitchen making preparations all day, but they stepped away from the stove for a few minutes to share their wisdom on the games.
SATURDAY 4:30 PM Eastern
Saints (-10) at Seahawks
Vinnie the Mooch: “What is this world coming to? The 11-5 Saints is the away team against the 7-9 Seahawks?”
Cheech: “The Seahawks is the best of the worst. They got nuttin, even at home in their raucous stadium.”
Bobby-Big-Fingers: “Hasselbeck is starting. That don’t make it much better for them. The Saints beat them 34-19 back in November.”
Sallie Boy: The question isn’t whether the Saints win this one – they will – the question is ‘by how much?’ In all of the Seahawks losses this year, they lost by a lot.”
Benny Bagels: “The Saints gotta rely on Bush for the running game.”
Frankie Nuts: “Forget Bush. It’s bombs away here – Brees is gonna throw all day. In November he threw for 382 yards and 4 TDs.”
Taking the Saints.
SATURDAY 8:00 PM Eastern
Jets at Colts (-2.5)
Vinnie the Mooch: “The Jets is lookin’ for payback for last year’s playoff loss to the Colts.”
Cheech: “Rex Ryan lost to the Colts in ’07, too, when he was with Baltimore.”
Bobby-Big-Fingers: “He can’t beat them. Especially not in Indy.”
Sallie Boy: “Here’s a stat for you – Manning has thrown a dozen TDs against Rex Ryan’s defenses.”
Benny Bagels: “Sanchez says he’s ready. He threw 2 TDs and one pick against the Colts in last year’s playoff loss.”
Frankie Nuts: “Even with all the injuries, the Colts is too fast for the Jets’ defense, and Manning is too good in spots like this to be stopped.”
Taking the Colts.
