3ds

3DS refers to the latest handheld console from Nintendo, the Nintendo 3DS. The 3DS is able to produce 3D effects without the need of any glasses. This is done by sending a different picture to each of the user's eyes. The Nintendo 3DS comes with the 3D screen at the top, a touch screen at the bottom as well as 3 cameras. One camera will point to the gamer and two external cameras allowing for 3D pictures to be produced.

The Nintendo 3DS also offers the possibility of watching 3D movie trailers as well as 3D movies themselves. Other enhancements include a circle pad which allows for more precious gaming movements. Inside the system there is a gyro sensor and a motion sensor.

The 3DS will launch in spring 2011. It will be available in Japan on February 26th, Europe on March 25th and will be out stateside a couple of days later on March 27th. Australia gamers will be able to get hold of the console on March 31st.

There has been a lot of buzz about the 3DS with reports of the 3DS outselling pre orders of the Wii. To learn more about the Nintendo 3DS, IGN has a great 3DS basics guide.

Prices for the 3DS vary a lot, especially in the UK where Nintendo didn't set a recommended retail price leaving it up to the retailers to set their own prices. Price comparison sites like 3DSConsoleFinder.co.uk offer a great way to find the cheapest 3DS prices.
