3g

3G is third generation digital wireless telephone communications. It includes a wider range of communication options than does 1G or 2G, such as internet capability, video streaming, and even gaming.


3G allows for very high speed voice and data transmissions of up to millions of bits per second (Mbps). UMTS is one of the 3G mobile telecommunications technologies. GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) set the standard for mobile telecommunications, and is the elder brother of UMTS. UMTS takes it a step further, and makes possible what many people just can't go without today — PDAs and smart phones that allow text messaging, UMTS Internet, and video calling and messaging.

If you like 3G, you will undoubtedly love 4G. Supposedly 4G will transform your phone into even more of a computing experience. Will 4G be able to open your garage door? Will it be able to turn off your oven from your cubicle at work if you left it on because you were in such a rush? For now, enjoy 3G, and when 12G comes along, you can look back at the "Good Old Days" of 3G.
