All the talk right now is about retail sales and how much the consumer will spend this holiday season. For those interested, below we highlight historical monthly year-over-year same store sales figures for various retail categories as calculated by Bloomberg.

Roger Martin-Fagg made five predictions for the economy at the AEO Conference 2008. It was quite a ramp in the last hour of trading on Friday. The type of move that we saw late Friday is an example of why investors don’t quite embrace the market at this stage of the sell-off. The rally was apparently based on President-elect Barack Obama’s officially naming the leaders of his economic team.
