AHL to experiment with one-minute minors in OT
http://redblackhockey.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 06/ ahl-to-experiment-with-one-minute.…Greg Wyshynski, over at Puck Daddy, has reported that the AHL will, at the behest of the NHL, experiment with one-minute minor penalties in regular season overtime games next season. The theory is the same one that Jacques Martin has used every time his Panthers team commits a penalty in overtime.

Rapid Fire Blogging: June
http://hockey-blog-in-canada.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 06/ rapid-fire-blogging-june.ht…Lots of hockey stories have developed over the course of the last week, and I've neglected to make mention of these. However, Hockey Blog In Canada is committed to catching everyone up on news they may have missed, and that's what Rapid Fire Blogging is all about.

Bending The Truth
http://hockey-blog-in-canada.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 06/ bending-truth.htmlSometimes, I am blown away by how much buzz is generated by the "anonymous hockey blogger" known as Eklund. I mean, the guy is as accurate as your local weatherman in predicting business in the NHL, and about as vague as the horoscope in your local newspaper.

That Was A-Ma-Zing
http://hlog.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 06/ that-was-ma-zing.htmlThe Chicago Wolves won the Calder Cup last night; defeating the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 5-2. I attended the game and all I can say is, "wow." I hope that everyone can experience that kind of electricity and elation. I will never forget that game.

The Big Picture
http://hockey-blog-in-canada.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 06/ big-picture.htmlOccasionally, I throw up pictures that have little or nothing to do with hockey, and then stretch to bring hockey and the picture together. Today's picture is no different. I don't know if you'd recognize it right away, but it's the Sistine Chapel. Now, Michaelangelo had nothing to do with hockey whatsoever, but he did paint this big picture.

Stupid Summer
http://goonblog.com/ 2008/ 06/ 07/ stupid-summer/To quote John Winger: “And then, depression set in.” After Screwy and I are done drying our eyes, and the last team member has retired to the dressing room to drink from Lord Stanley that’s when it’s real. I am stuck with stupid baseball until September.

Wrapping Things Up
http://hockey-blog-in-canada.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 06/ wrapping-things-up.htmlThat was fun, wasn't it? Watching the games between the Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins over this last week and a bit was exactly what the NHL needed: an infusion of energy, a pinch of drama, a couple of helpings of excitement, and some pure skill from some of the best players in the game today.

"Bloody Pirates!"
http://girlwithapuck.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 06/ bloody-pirates.htmlWell, not anymore. The Anaheim Ducks have announced (and I'm a little late on the up-take) a new affiliation with an Iowa-based AHL team in Des Moines. The team name, logo, and colors will be revealed in July 2008. Could yet another bird-themed name be soon joining the flock? (Hardy-har-har...)

Minor League Update
http://jerseysandhockeylove.com/ blog/ 2008/ 06/ 05/ minor-league-update/So, the Cup has been handed out, but there are still some championships being played out. The Cincinnati Cyclones are up 3 games to 2 against the Las Vegas Wranglers in the ECHL, and the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins are down 3 games to none to the Chicago Wolves in the AHL. After that, some stuff is going on.
