Activists
Activists are individuals that typically seek social or political reform through protest, community organization, boycotts and rallies. Their opposition to the status quo reflects their belief that through community awareness their needs can be met.
Activists usually solicit the assistance of politicians and community leaders in seeking to have their needs and the needs of the community satisfied. They usually implement a grassroots approach, though many activists are affiliated with national causes.
The goal of many activists is to call attention to an otherwise overlooked issue affecting their community, so that governmental or social change may arise from that awareness.
