The Orlando-based airline said traffic grew 15.5 percent compared with the same month a year ago, to 1.9 billion revenue passenger miles (one RPM is equal to one paying passenger flown one mile).

http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/ business_tourism_aviation/ 2008/ 07/ southwest…Orlando-based AirTran Airways said this morning that it plans to cut employee pay by an average of 10 percent, as it fights to survive in an era of stratospheric fuel costs. Salaries will be cut from a low of 5 percent for some employees to as high as 15 percent for the company's senior officers, said Kevin Healy, AirTran's senior vice president for marketing and planning.

Of the 47 individuals who responded, 46 percent felt there was a better than 50-50 chance AirTran could file for bankruptcy sometime in 2009.

AirTran adds Wisconsin exec to board of directors

AirTran said revenue passenger miles grew 18.2 percent from the same month a year ago to 1.7 billion RPMs (one RPM equals one paying-passenger flown one mile) and available seat miles rose 14.0 percent to 2.2 billion ASMs.
