    For months the future of the Australian Grand Prix has been in doubt with Bernie Ecclestone demanding more money and a night-time start for the Melbourne race. However it has been finally annnounced that Albert Park has been granted a five-year extension to its current contract which was due to expire in 2010.

    The news from Australia is that Albert Park in Melbourne has managed to come to an agreement with Bernie Ecclestone to extend the contract they have for the Australian Grand Prix. In recent months the race had come under increasing threats of being moved away from the track and possibly even the country if another venue couldn’t be found.

    An Australian newspaper is reporting that the Australian Grand Prix will remain on the F1 calendar until 2015. According to the Herald Sun the race will stay at Albert Park where it has been since 1996.
