A whole slew of performers were added to the lineup for the CMA Music Festival, including everybody’s favorite Celebrity Apprentice, Trace Adkins. The lineup also sees Randy Travis returning after a decade long absence. Do Lyle Lovett and Australian pop singer Ben Lee look alike? Sixty-eight percent of the voters at Spinner see at least some resemblance.

Friday night’s Opry audience got a surprise when Kenny Chesney popped by to support his band member Tim Hensley, who has a new bluegrass album out. And the night before Clint Black made his own surprise appearance at Zanies Comedy Club in Nashville to rehearse for his part on Secret Talents of the Stars.

The night before I saw Steve Earle and Allison Moorer play Royce Hall, I attended a private showcase of Newline (Moorer) and Primary Wave (Earle) at the Hotel Cafe in Hollywood. Earle played about 5 songs before Allison Moorer treated the select crowd to 20 minute set of songs from her new album.

Edd Hurt gave a good rundown of Family Tradition: The Williams Family Legacy, the exhibit that opens tomorrow at The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, and a brief history of the Williams family. Luke Bryan scored a co-sponsorship from Longhorn Steakhouse and Jack Daniels.

Blue Highway - Through the Window of a Train If Dierks Bentley ever makes a bluegrass album, and I suspect that he will, it would sound a lot like this. The Dierksache may not much resemble Tim Stafford’s high lonesome, but Through the Window of a Train finds this veteran bluegrass group crooning a self-penned set of traveling and soldier songs.
