About Jose
http://njmg.typepad.com/ metsblog/ 2008/ 07/ about-jose.htmlI've had a few days off, getting a break while Jeff Roberts ably fills in by handling the series in St. Louis. So between running errands, mowing my lawn, I've been able to watch the Mets like a fan - watching the games on SNY and listening in my car to the constant talk from fans.

Who's No. 1?
http://njmg.typepad.com/ metsblog/ 2008/ 06/ whos-no-1.htmlJ erry Manuel put it out there in the open during pregame today - the Yankees are No. 1 in New York and the Mets are No. 2. "Well, the Yankees have won (26) championships," he said. "They’ve been here longer. I think that the teams merged and did all that kind of stuff. But that’s just the way it is.

Aloha Alou
http://njmg.typepad.com/ metsblog/ 2008/ 06/ aloha-alou.htmlMoises Alou is currently working on his rehabilitation - again. But Jerry Manuel acknowledged that he is preparing for the possibility that Alou will never return. "I probably have to plan that way," Manuel said. "But I would hope differently because he's such a tremendous hitter.

Mets Add Krivsky
http://njmg.typepad.com/ metsblog/ 2008/ 06/ mets-add-krivsk.htmlThe Mets made a front office move official Saturday, but no, it's not Omar Minaya departing or Tony Bernazard taking over. The team named Wayne Krivsky, recently bounced by the Reds where he was GM for two-plus seasons, as a Special Assistant to Minaya. The two worked together in Texas and he will be responsible for major league scouting.

This is Easy
http://njmg.typepad.com/ metsblog/ 2008/ 06/ this-is-easy.htmlBy STEVE POPPER STAFF WRITER DENVER – The Mets have never had a chance to play two series at Coors Field in one season, but after the way the first one went you can’t blame them for appreciating the opportunity for a second chance.

Punch The Clock
http://njmg.typepad.com/ metsblog/ 2008/ 06/ punch-the-clock.htmlFor the second straight game the Mets have a contingent of early arrivals working out - David Wright and Brian Schneider are repeat participants and are joined by Carlos Delgado, Ramon Castro and Fernando Tatis. Jerry Manuel is on the mound with the Mets coaching staff scattered around the outfield.

No Star Balloting, Round III
http://njmg.typepad.com/ metsblog/ 2008/ 06/ no-star-balloti.htmlIt's hard to argue with the results, but it is a little surprising with the crowds at Shea Stadium that the Mets are being shut out in the All-Star balloting. Either fans at Shea are taking their task seriously and voting for the best, or there is a lot of resentment towards this team.

The Way Out
http://njmg.typepad.com/ metsblog/ 2008/ 06/ the-way-out.htmlMoises Alou insisted Sunday that he will be back in the lineup tonight - an assurance that the Mets haven't been willing to back up until they see him work out before the game. But will that be enough to change their fortunes? Ryan Church was placed on the disabled list Monday, retroactive to June 5, so even if the Mets get Alou back, they lose a bat while they get one.

Strawberry Signing
http://njmg.typepad.com/ metsblog/ 2008/ 06/ strawberry-sign.htmlWhile the Mets could use him in the lineup lately - and he might be younger than a few people on the roster, Darryl Strawberry is now a part of SNY's television coverage and he will be appearing in New York Tuesday to sign copies of the new DVD sets commemorating Shea Stadium.

Not the Day to be Late
http://njmg.typepad.com/ metsblog/ 2008/ 06/ not-the-day-to.htmlFor nearly 20 minutes Willie Randolph sat in his office with the media detailing the Mets struggles, trying to explain the underachieving of his $140 million team. And then after penciling in the lineup, he found out that Ramon Castro, who would have been the starting catcher overslept at the team hotel and didn't arrive at Petco Park until 12:10 - 55 minutes before game time.
