Americana
Americana refers to the basic characteristics of American culture. It is the distinctly American way of life that exists within our cultural aesthetics. The foods eaten, the clothes worn, the movies loved and the music listened too all refer to the concept of Americana.
Americana speaks to more than an American way of life or American tastes; it also refers to the norms that govern the cultural practices within America. Within the culture there are acceptable and unacceptable behaviors, which are determined by the norms governing the American way of life.
Furthermore, with respect to the practices within American culture, Americana reflects the tensions present within American society, while also reflecting the good. It is a complex interrelation of all things American.
