    Saudi Anti-Terrorism Editorial Cartoons

    http://xrdarabia.org/ 2008/ 09/ 03/ saudi-anti-terrorism-editorial-cartoons/

The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) has put up a page showing a variety of recent anti-terrorism cartoon appearing in the Saudi press. One I thought quite good is by Hajed, appearing in the Arabic daily Al-Jazirah.

    Terrorism Financing and the Courts

    http://xrdarabia.org/ 2008/ 09/ 03/ terrorism-financing-and-the-courts/

There are a couple of articles out today looking at how various courts—US and EU—are dealing with alleged terrorism financing. The first, from The Philadelphia Enquirer, talks with the Philadelphia law firm that lost its case in the US Appeals Court that attempted to sue several members of the Saudi ruling family.

    Australian Anti-Terror Laws Seriously Flawed

    http://botlbrush.com/ blog/ ?p=302

Australian anti-terror laws have been proven to be extremely ineffective in the investigation of Mohamed Haneef by the Australian Federel Police (AFP).  AFP Commissioner Mick Keelty has been attacked by Haneef’s lawyer saying “Effectively Mr Keelty has said, ‘Trust us, we’re the AFP, we know best and butt out’.

Winning a Battle; Losing a War

By any measure, this sort of reckless command decision is badly flawed. After trying to buy Bin Laden’s capture from guys who let him escape, holding hundreds captive for years before releasing them for lack of evidence, you’d think the military brass would learn to be skeptical of its Afghani informants.

An interesting couple of articles appear that look at the way in which Al-Qaeda is shifting into criminal activity to finance its terrorist activities. The first was in yesterday’s The Washington Post and provides a broad overview of the phenomenon: Al-Qaeda Masters Terrorism On the Cheap The

Leaving Iraq: from surge to purge, the facts can hurt McCain

    http://www.reachm.com/ amstreet/ archives/ 2008/ 08/ 21/ leaving-iraq-from-surge…

I predicted last year that Bush would try to undercut Obama’s edge on the Iraq War because, as we learned from the insiders on the ruining of intelligence operative Valerie Plame, the policy is always about the next election and our troops are pawns to be used for that above all.

Does Barry Know How Many Troops Have Been Killed In Iraq?

    http://www.thepiratescove.us/ 2008/ 08/ 19/ does-barry-know-how-many-troops-have…

Update:I was just about to pull this, since I misread it slightly, as Barry stated that we have lost over 1,000 lives since the start of The Surge, not since the start of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Actually, according to the records, 640 troops have died since the official start of The Surge in June 2007.
