Tried AsteriskNOW 1.2 in VMWare today. I like the AsteriskNOW GUI and approach to configuration file management (i.e. does not make a mess). Imagine lots of users would like to install AsteriskNOW on Soekris or PC Engines ALIX SBC style systems.

I was able to get my AsteriskNOW system upgraded, and so now on to the next step … adding a new set of VoIP channels (phone lines) and a new incoming phone number. I wanted to do all of this via VoIP so that I can learn what it takes, and how to do it … and it’s been quite a learning lesson.

Yesterday I noted that Digium pushed out a new firmware release for their small business targeted hardware appliance (the AA50) and it looks like a good sized update. It is dated the 4th in the release notes but the 14th elsewhere so I think one or the other is a typo.
