Background

When two people don't get along well, sometimes we say that it is because they come from two very different backgrounds. This means their world view has been filtered through the culmination of all their life experiences. But just like no two snowflakes are alike, neither are anyone's backgrounds, and this shouldn't be a reason for not getting along.

A background can also be referencing something positioned behind a subject, as in photography or any other type of scene. Sometimes a photo will show a close-up with the subject in clear, sharp focus and the background is mostly a blended pattern of colors.


Background information is quite important for an employer to obtain before hiring a new employee. This information may include a drug test, a references check, and even a search for a criminal record. A people background check may be just the ticket to get all the particulars. This is a wise use of resources, as it can be expensive to train only to have to terminate someone and have to start all over again.
