How the @$#! did bacon come to be trendy? It's not clear what concurrence of events and flavors led to the current popularity of fried pork strips, but one thing is abundantly clear: lots of people are totally into bacon.
Maybe it's the incomparable odor and flavor, or the crispiness, or the absolute unhealthiness of this disgustingly delectable food. Perhaps it's the stigma placed on it by certain religions whose adherents abstain from eating pork. It could even be aesthetic attraction to the red-and-white pattern of bacon strips.
