Beach
Beach is the word most commonly used to refer to the shore of a sea or lake. A beach could, however, be the shore of any body of water and land. To be more specific, it is the area where water meets land, the area washed by waves. A beach is often made of sand or pebbles and a mixture of deposits brought in by tides or waves.
When people say they are "going to the beach" they usually, but not always, mean the seashore. The world is full of beautiful beaches where people sunbathe, swim, surf, or partake in other water sports. Beaches — especially beaches in warmer climates — are one of the most popular places to go for vacation.
