The first week of the collegiate football season offered some intrigue as we got our first look at most of the teams and were able to get our first true idea of who could be contenders this season and who was nothing more than a pretender (Clemson, Pittsburgh).

Here's my entry for this week's Big Ten Bloggers pick'em. I did alright last week, but my upset picks for Michigan State and Michigan fell through. This week, I'm going along with the crowd in a bunch of "easy" games. Hopefully I can get back into the mix. Following my pics are the current standings from the pick'em participants.

For the record, I divided time between USC-Virginia and Oklahoma St.-Washington St., watched the end of Oregon-Washington, and watched most of Oregon St.-Stanford and UCLA-Tennessee. I did not see the Arizona games at all. The Cal recaps are here.

The old saying goes, “Records are meant to be broken.” Well 22 year old Dan Robertson did just that this year, he broke a 36 year old Northwest League record.  The first year player out of Oregon State picked up his 114th hit of the season last night as the Eugene Emeralds beat the Everett Aquasox.  Yesterday he was named the Northwest League MVP.

Brooks Hatch asks his readers whether they would have moved the schedule around this season in order to accomodate television.  The way the schedule was originally, the Beavers were to open with Utah, Hawai’i, and Idaho before taking on USC.  Instead, they ditched Idaho and took a lot of money to travel to Stanford and Penn State so they could play on TV.

Ange has only been in the US a few months from China but that didn’t stop Mr. Chew from tracking her down and asking her to come visit us. Ange was a little older than most of the Far East babes that come to the studio but she was so sexy with her curvy body and long black hair.

It doesn’t get any easier. The 9-4 Beavers lost to the 4-8 Stanford team. Next week the Beavers face #22 Penn State.
