When Peyton was diagnosed with Leukemia, one question that we were asked repeatedly was, "She needs a bone marrow transplant, right?" I would have to explain that bone marrow transplant is a last ditch effort, that you don't do it unless nothing else works, you don't WANT to do bone marrow transplant.  There's nothing easy, simple or positive about it.

This morning I was doing my usual blog crawl when I came across this piece from Angry Asian Man (click on this link). Basically, racial/ethnic minorities are very underrepresented in the national bone marrow registry. So the Asian American Donor Program is trying to do something about this.

On May 27, I wrote about the importance of bone marrow registry and donation (Bone marrow transplants - would you be a donor?). In the post, I mentioned that a Montreal writer, Emru Townsend, was in a holding pattern while waiting for a match to help him recover from leukemia.

I know I'm grounded but I had to get this quick post in. One of my bestest "real life" friends just started her very own blog. I knew she wouldn't be able to hold out forever! Dan and I have been friends with this couple for almost 20 years and they are the funniest people we know....(we don't know very many people...lol....just kid'n Kel).

We held our first ever Bone Marrow Donor Registry drive here at the Honolulu Advertiser in downtown. The Honolulu Advertiser’s Kapolei press held their drive on Wednesday.
