Bookmarking

Tag details

The term bookmarking as applied to its use on the internet is similar to what a bookmark was in the good old days of marking your place in paperback or hardbound book so you could come back and begin reading where you left off. Bookmarking in the age of the internet takes on the unique but similar meaning of saving a website address within your internet browser and assigning it a keyword or title of sorts so you can come back to it and reference it later.

Social bookmarking is a close relative of regular bookmarking and is more powerful, gaining popularity with users of sites like Digg, del.icio.us, Technorati, and others. You can bookmark sites on the internet that you like and then save them all in one spot to share with others who visit your RSS feed. You can even use a bookmark submitter to submit social bookmarks to bookmarking sites.

Bloggers speaking about bookmarking can be found at sites such as ranamarketing and blogherald.
