Lou Malnati’s: Going Local For Chicago-style Deep Dish Pizza

    http://redux.quinews.com/ 2008/ 05/ lou-malnatis-going-local-for-chicago-style-d…

Its near the corner of Wells and Hubbard, just north of the Chicago River and the Loop. (The other recommended Chicago pizza place seems to be Ginos East; anyone out there tried them? The pizzas fresh to order at Malnatis, so they need 25 minutes or so to make it. Malnatis deep dish pie sure aint Pizza Hut.

    NEW URBAN ADVENTURES: THE CRP

    http://boschonpublictransit.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ new-urban-adventures-crp.htm…

The Chicago River Project On a day in the summer of 2008, a small number of explorers will converge early in the morning at the spot where the Chicago River meets Lake Michigan. From there they will explore the river and the areas surrounding its banks by making a trek on foot away from the river’s ending toward its unseen origin.

    Chicago River Cleanup Day

    http://morosehellhole.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ chicago-river-cleanup-day.html

The Friends of the Chicago River hold annual cleanup days in both the spring and fall. Today was the spring day, and for the second year in a row, I went to help at the river bend near Lathrop Homes. There's about a twelve-foot wall with an eight-foot fence on top, over which we pull the trash.

As I reported a couple weeks ago, Ellen DeGeneres will be taping a special one-time-only episode here in Chicago on Saturday, May 3. I tried to get tickets via the show’s website, but I’m assuming that since I haven’t heard anything by now, I won’t be receiving any. Oh well.

This is ridiculous. I live in Chicago. Occasionally, if we're lucky, Chicagoans will see a stray deer in the viscinity of the forest preserves. Indeed I pulled over on my way home from the airport last week to show my grandsons Bambi and a friend of hers, two doe grazing in an empty lot.

Although most of the ground near the North Branch of the Chicago River is brown, there are some patches of green here and there, such as this spot in the Bunker Hill Woods in Niles. The last few days have been quite warm--today it's only in the mid 50s.
