For New England’s premier cyclocross event, mark your calendars now for the Gran Prix of Gloucester in Gloucester, Massachusetts. The course is set oceanside next to rocky cliffs and the Atlantic Ocean. Excellent vantage points for spectators puts you practically on the cross course.

That was some showdown today ya?  For someone who supposedly can’t climb Cancellara did a pretty good job of shelling most of the peloton.  It was painful to watch, I can’t imagine what it would be like to follow that monster.  Then to have Andy Schleck covering all the attacks after Sastre went away, it was a CSC clinic out there today.

Evanston, Ill. — Peter Dawson scored his second victory – and Rock Racing’s fifth of the Point Premium Root Beer International Cycling Classic – in winning the Evanston Northwestern Healthcare Grand Prix of Cycling. Sunday’s race was originally scheduled for 62 miles (100 km) around a six-turn, 0.8-mile course.

Chris Horner (Astana Cycling Team) captured the Tour de White Rock Road Race on Sunday, July 20th. That race was the finale of the 10-day, eight-race British Columbia Superweek Series (a Series that has Lance Armstrong on his list as a former winner).

This mornings Shootout was a fast one thanks to Curtis Gunn pictured to the left. Curtis is a professional cyclist and just got back from the  Bend Memorial Clinic Cascade Cycling Classic stage race and was racing amongst top name cyclists Levi Leipheimer, Phil Zajicek, Tom Danielson, and Chris Horner just to name a few.

The riders at the Tour are taking a well deserved rest day, so we have time to get out some other news: Here’s the big bombshell: 17 of the 18 UCI Pro Tour teams and the organizers of the 3 major races (The Tour de France, Giro d’Italia and Vuelta d’Espana) will not renew their licenses for next year.

Chris Horner is riding for Team Astana this year, and thus wasn’t invited to participate in Le Tour. Instead, the team spent the last weekend competing at the Cascade Cycling Classic. The classic moment of the event came when Horner had finished his team-duty of sheparding Levi Leipheimer over the last climb of the day.

I was missing Chris Horner at the Tour, with his lively and frank interviews. Lo and behold, he still manages to give us all a huge smile in July. Here's the story of how Horner carried another rider, and his bike, up the final 2K of Saturday's stage at the Cascade Cycling Classic.
