The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has been the focus of a lot of attention lately. Last month, the SEC announced new guidance in using traditional websites and social media channels as legitimate means for companies listed on US stock exchanges to communicate with investors and others.

YouTube is holding a competition for reporters and aspiring journalists, as part of its new journalism program. The video-sharing website is asking users to submit a profile of someone in their community the world should know about. Submissions must be a maximum of three minutes long and featuring only original content.

As far as gadgets go, I prefer to segment mine so that I minimize getting redundant functions. I have my trusted lappie to work with everywhere I go. My mobile phone’s primary function is still for calls and SMS. I have my prosumer camera to take snapshots (I always considered mobile phone pics crummy).

Although we need some more lists of subject-specific blogs (which I’ll work on in future posts), the blogs page of the Moving Forward wiki is basically a pretty solid resource right now. The wiki and podcast pages, however, could use some work… If you know of an exemplary K-12 classroom wiki or podcast project, would you add the link to the appropriate wiki page?
